AMHA Early Childhood Initiative

Thursday, July 21 will be a big day for early childhood in Summit County, as Parents as Teachers™ (PAT) President and CEO Scott Hippert will visit Akron to see first-hand how the Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority (AMHA) has successfully implemented its parent education program and how community collaboration has helped them successfully support hundreds of families.

It their winter publication, the international organization, Parents as Teachers (PAT), recognized AMHA's Early Childhood Initiative for its innovative use of the evidence-base PAT home visiting curriculum.  ECI offers PAT to AMHA families with children under three years old.  Read More

In Laura Ofobike's editorial, "Put the Money on Early Education: The AMHA and its partners get the point," AMHA is praised for its efforts in early learning. "Collaborations among [AMHA], a variety of county agencies and schools are helping put a floor of opportunity underneath children who otherwise lack those advantages."  Read More

A recent publication by the Council of Large Public housing Authorities highlighted AMHA's Early Childhood Initiative for its efforts.  "The best place to start is at the beginning and [AMHA] is doing just that."
